The sun has turned, approaching every day,
shining through panes which dirt has made obscure,
pouring in beams where any aperture
is broken free to let pass any ray;
But look! the sun's wild heart invades our way,
massive, impossible quintessence pure
of energy unbound, a shocking cure
transfixing potent light through our weak clay.
Smashed into time, imploded into space,
compacted into matter, trapped in flesh,
bereft of vision, power, life, accord;
he showed us God in fully human face
and set a grapple to our self-sealed mesh:
Jesus our light, our newborn baby Lord.
